Call Me Crazy

Do you ever come up with an idea that at the time seems so great and you convince someone to go along with it, then later you think why did they let me do this? I had that experience recently. I decided to try a sewing project. Don't get me wrong, I do know how to sew, I can thread my machine, but really I just know the basics. So of course I talked my mom into helping me. Candee made some pettiskirts for her girls and I thought, hey that is cute, I'll google it for directions and see how complicated it is. The directions that you find for the skirts on Martha Stewart's website aren't that bad so I thought why not. I don't know how I convinced my mom to help. But we did it. It did involve one major marathon day of sewing at Mom's house lasting until after midnight and I wouldn't suggest anyone look terribly close at the skirts but here they are. Britton's really looks like a little tutu.
Caitlyn was really excited when the skirt was done. When I bought the material she kept asking if it was done and then telling me that I needed to go to Grandma's so she could help me. Mom and I have decided that if Candee says she isn't going to try a project again it may not be the best idea to attempt it. If you can find nylon chiffon it really wouldn't be the worst project but we could only find polyester chiffon so it involved a lot of serging. So thank goodness for mothers, sergers, and the gathering foot that came with my machine. The girls did look incredibly cute.

Cute skirts! They turned out great! I have since started sewing another pettiskirt....call me crazy. I wanted to make one for my nieces, but I got sidetracked on another project. This skirt isn't turning out as cute and I am really dragging my feet at finishing it.

Good job! I am glad that you were able to finish them. SO CUTE!!!!
