Celery and Peanut Butter

Brandon decided to introduce celery and peanut butter to our families diet, mainly because his work is doing a fruits and vegetables campaign for their health insurance campaign. William was a little leery at first, he isn't really keen on trying new things. Caitlyn thinks that anything that is on her parents' plates must be better than what is on her plate. It doesn't matter what it is. She prefers my salad to her chicken nuggets at night and is constantly asking for what we are having. So she was really excited that we were having celery and peanut butter. She didn't do to well with the celery. Hard to chew vegetables are still giving her just a bit of a problem, she prefers lettuce. But when she discovered that there was peanut butter inside that celery she went to town. It was tongue out, flat up against her face. We couldn't help laughing. We did get some pictures, amazing because we usually get in that situation and totally forget, and we wanted all of you to enjoy.

New Tooth

This may not sound exciting to all of you, but Caitlyn cut another tooth this week. This is the fifth one since January. She is now up to ten. I know, sounds so impressive especially since she didn't cut any teeth until she was almost one. We are hoping that this is why she has been cranky lately and also why she is unable to sleep in her own bed.

Footed Pajamas

We had quite the dilemma the other day. We have discovered that footed pajamas work best with Caitlyn because then her socks don't fall off. She apparently has a thing about socks off. She will wake up because of it and cry until they are back on. Well, Grandma found some on sale and bought them big for next winter. William of course wanted to try them on since Caitlyn got to, and they did fit but they are pink. Needless to say, he wasn't allowed to wear them to bed. He was devastated. So we made him a deal that we would go look for some in his size. It is just so funny because he hasn't worn footed pajamas since he was Caitlyn's size and has been fine with it. So we found him some at WalMart and he just wanted to put them on. In fact that is all that he wanted to wear that day. That made it easy to get him ready for bed because he got to put them on. So he has been wearing them since. And he still asks to put them on during the day or just leave them on period.

Our Little Superheroes

William has quite the imagination and is a big imitator. He loves to act out parts of movies and TV shows. He really likes the PBS show SuperWhy and has on occasion informed the rest of the family that we all are certain characters(ask Brandon about the days of being Princess Presto). So the other day he decided that he needed to be a super hero. And what is a super hero without a cape? I did have to veto his first choice of cape since he had stolen Caitlyn's blanket. He got stuck on the idea that his cape needed to be a fuzzy pink blanket so thank goodness Caitlyn has more than one. He found his cape, had me tie it on, and immediately struck his heroic pose. It was just so cute. What is really funny is that Caitlyn decided that she had to do the exact same thing. So she brought me her blanket, William was kind enough to give it back, and had me tie it around her. I think that she enjoyed the fact that she didn't have to hold on to her blanket when she came to snuggle for comfort. The two of them spent quite a bit of time "flying" around the living room. Caitlyn just kept trying to copy William as he put his arms out and made his flying sound effects. It was so fun to watch them and of course they were more than happy to pose for the camera.

New Calling

It didn't take us very long in our ward to notice that some people they leave in the same calling forever and others they change repeatedly. Since we have both been in our callings about a year it didn't come as a complete shock that the bishop wanted to meet with us. Of course I thought it would be a calling for Brandon, though they would have to be creative to work around his work schedule if the calling was anything but teaching. I was wrong. As of Sunday I am the Primary president in the Idaho Falls 21st ward. I feel completely overwhelmed and the ladies that have been called to serve with me feel the same way. Strength in numbers. The previous presidency is very excited to help us as needed. William was a little worried about my having a new calling until he realized that I would still be going to primary with him. So that is what is new in our lives so far this week.

Primary Talk

William had the opportunity to talk in Primary. He has been asking for his turn for a few weeks now. This is him practicing the day before.

Grandma's House

Brandon was lucky enough to work a different schedule the other day, doing the five o'clock news instead of the ten o'clock, so the rest of us went up to Grandma Luke's. I have to admit that the reasons we went were partly selfish. I'm used to Brandon being home until two so the days that he is gone early seem really long. The other reasons were that Mom doesn't see us as often since she doesn't come down to the temple once a week. William was really excited to be going to Grandma's. He kept asking if I would drop him off at Grandma's and then come back and get him. He just didn't want Mommy to stay with him. He was also excited about making cookies with Grandma, because the best part about going to Grandma's is the food of course.

Caitlyn talks about Grandma a lot, seemed really excited to be going to Grandma's(by my interpretation of her sounds), but it took her over an hour to warm up. For the first little bit she just carried her blanket around, thumb in mouth, and kept coming to check on where I was. She would play by William just fine and then it would be off to make sure that Mommy is still here. She did think that it was great when Grandma started tickling her neck and wanted her to do it again and again. She did warm up to Mom, thanks in part to the lollipop and banana, and she dazzled Grandma with words like "no" and "oh" and her antics of stealing her blanket so Mommy can't put her down for a nap.

Of course Caitlyn's absolute favorite part of Grandma's house is the cats. She gets so excited to see them. She makes her little meowing sounds at them and when they let her touch them she just laughs and giggles. She almost couldn't eat during lunch because she just wanted to look out the window at the cats sprawled all over the car(Brandon wasn't exactly thrilled with the paw prints on the windshield). She thought it was great that the snow is high enough outside the kitchen window that the cats jump up and sit on the ledge and look in. She stood on the bench and had quite the conversation with Dusty as the cat was rubbing against the window trying to get some love.
Needless to say, both William and Caitlyn were sad to leave. They just love to be at Grandma's.

New Background

I am really excited about this new background. I found a link on Janette's blog for a blog that has all sorts of backgrounds for free. I like it because I can get a background that is a little more original and involved and I don't have to any of the work. I admit it, I'm lazy. It is cutestblogontheblock.blogspot.com and I'm putting a link for it under our favorite links.
