This is William's masterpiece in sidewalk chalk. Some of you may recognize this little pigeon. You may have seen him in books like
Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus or
Don't let the Pigeon stay up Late. These books are by Mo Willems and he had become one of our favorite children's authors. His books are so funny. Along with the Pigeon books we enjoyed
Knuffle Bunny,
Edwina the Dinosaur who didn't know she was Extinct, and
Leonardo the Terrible Monster. Mo Willems also has an early reader series,
Elephant and Piggie books, that are hilarious. the illustrations are great, they could tell the story without the words. William and Caitlyn get really excited when we get any Willems books from the library. They were even excited when we found his nonfiction books,
Time to Pee! and
Time to say Please. Caitlyn took
Time to Pee! to bed with her a couple of times. William was excited to find directions on how to draw the pigeon online and pictures to color. If you do check out Mo Willems books be on the look out for the pigeon. He makes an appearance in everyone of the children's books, not just the books in his series.
A small side note, but still book related. Brandon got me a couple of books for Mother's day, that's why I love him, and one was from a series that he had just heard about. The series is called
Percy Jackson and the Olympians. So he got me the first book and I thought it was awesome. The hero of the story is a 12 year old boy who has been kicked out of multiple schools, is dyslexic and diagnosed with ADHD. He finds himself in a world populated by Greek myths and discovers he is only half human. I would totally recommend this book to anyone, but I think it would be great for 10-12 year olds (don't let that stop any of you older readers). I can't wait to read the others in the series, there is a total of 5 books. Brandon is about halfway done with the book and is enjoying it also.
Caitlyn thought it was really funny to put her foot on the spray because the pressure would build up and it would spray higher for just a second.
Caitlyn was really excited to put on her swimsuit. We got it at the end of last summer and we may have to replace it before the end of this summer. Tall kids aren't always worth it.
William got absolutely soaked, but he said that he was having fun. But because it wasn't a hot day, really just nice and warm, he got cold pretty fast.
Britton was just glad to be outside. She loves to watch William and Caitlyn and laugh at them. She thought they were pretty funny as they were running around.
William was brave enough to run through the water. We worked on that a lot last summer, it consisted of me running with him and I spent a lot of time wet.
This was as close as Caitlyn would get. She didn't get nearly as wet as William, but she still said she was cold. Because they got cold it was really easy to convince them to take a bath. They were excited for the warm water in the tub. I was just glad that it was warmer. Especially since the weather forecast says that it might be leaving for a time. It brings hope for summer.
The kids were so excited to be outside. The wind wasn't even that bad. Britton slept through the entire experience.
William was so excited about his new backpack.
William kept saying that he needed to get his exercise so he was running up and down the little beach. 
This is why I wondered why Brandon wanted to go fishing with the kids. You can't really see what Caitlyn is doing but she is picking up more rocks to throw in the water. She wasn't the only one throwing things into the water right by the people fishing.
This was the only fish caught while we were there. Ammon, one of our friends, helped catch the fish but he doesn't really looked excited about it. He and his brother were scared by the fish but Caitlyn thought that it was great. She kept running up and touching it.
After we got home, had a bath, and some quiet time, the kids were sent back outside to get them out of our hair. So they got out the chalk and made some artwork.
